First Choice Health Home : Physician Assistance Program : HIPAA Information
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) established numerous
requirements that physicians, clinics and practices will need to embrace. These
new standards relate to medical privacy, data security and "administrative simplification"
for health-related information. This includes patient records, e-mail messages,
phone calls, document archiving & destruction, in-office conversations, the use
of identifying information over the phone, FAX materials, and other core transactions
of daily medical practice. In total there are over 1500 pages of regulations – not
including proposed modifications.
It would be impossible for the First Choice Health Physician Assistance Program
- http://www.fchn.com/doc - to compile or consolidate this constantly evolving volume
of material into a single archive. As a service to physicians, to save you time
and energy, the PAP has identified the following online pages as containing potentially
valuable information - to assist you in preparing for current & future HIPAA regulations.
The PAP will be revising and updating these links on an ongoing basis.
A brief description of each site is offered, to assist you in filtering your needs
and interests related to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
