Q: Who manages administration for the medical benefits and provider network for Kootenai Health, St. Mary's Health, and Clearwater Valley Health?

A: First Choice Health (FCH) manages the medical benefits and the overall provider network for members of Kootenai Health's health plan.



Q: What is my overall provider network?

A: The overall provider network includes:


  • Kootenai Care Network
    The Clinically Integrated Network affiliated with Kootenai Health
    (applicable for specific counties)

  • First Choice Health Network
    The FCH-Owned Network
    (applicable for specific states)

  • MultiPlan Complimentary Network
    A partnering network, also called a "national wrap network"
    (applicable for all other states)



Q: Why are there various networks within my overall provider network?

A: Including these networks in the overall provider network guarantees geographically curated access to the best in-network provider options available nationwide.



Q: How does in-network coverage work for my overall provider network?

A: Use the appropriate network based on your location.


  • Kootenai Care Network = In-network care options for the following ID counties:
    Kootenai, Bonner, Shoshone, Boundary and Benewah.
     

  • First Choice Health Network = In-network care options for all other ID counties and the following states:
    AL, AK, GA, ID, IA, KY, MS, MT, NE, ND, OR, SD, TN, UT, WA, WY

  • MultiPlan Complimentary Network = In-network care options for all other states.

A: FCH is your one point-of-contact for the overall provider network and can help you navigate searching all networks to locate in-network providers.

Q: How do I find an in-network provider if I'm in Kootenai County and the four Northern Counties (Bonner, Shoshone, Boundary and Benewah County)?

  • You are able to search by name or specialty.

Q: How do I find an in-network provider if I am in any other state?

Q: Who do I contact if my in-network provider does not accept my insurance?

A: Contact the FCH Benefit Guidance Team for support and guidance.

Questions About Adding Providers to the Network

Q: I have a provider that is not in the network, can they join the network?

A: Yes, you can nominate the provider to be part of the network by completing the provider nomination form with the requested information.

     FCH will then reach out directly to your provider.



Q: Does submitting a provider nomination form guarantee they will join the network?

A: No, completing and submitting the form does not guarantee the nominated provider will join the network.



Q: How long does the credentialing process take for a nominated provider?

A: The credentialing process may take several weeks, with an average of six to eight weeks, and is subject to approval.

A: You, or your provider, can contact FCH Benefit Guidance at 800-993-8956.
